Reese Witherspoon started seriously pursuing an acting career after she enrolled in Stanford University. Her early success was in films such as Pleasantville, Election and Legally Blonde. However, it was her portrayal as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde's big-budget smash that truly marked the beginning of her professional career.
