Winona-Ryder
Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to by the name Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for her hometown. Michel Horowitz' father was an author and editor, as were Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father was from an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder is the youngest sister of Uria as well as half-siblings Jubal & Sunyata. When Ryder was just seven years old, her family relocated to Mendocino County California. The family didn't have electricity. There was no television books were Ryder's only distraction to pass the time. Eventually, she was a voracious reader. When she turned twelve, Ryder joined the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. Ryder landed her first film role on the large screen in 1986 when she was 15 years older. Ryder was subject to bullying in highschool. Her hope was that her career in acting would alter the way she dealt with bullying. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. However, it didn't stop her from following her dreams. Beetlejuice the 1988 Tim Burton film, was her debut big break. Ryder was able to continue playing characters that made a splash in various films. She was nominated for two Academy Awards one for her performance in The Age of Innocence (1993).
